Whats your opinion on fraternities/sororities?

I use to be in a Fraternity but got out after the first year. Honestly it's for some but not all and it was NOT for me. I liked hanging out with my close friends not a group of people who are suppose to be friends but then alienate their selves into sub groups within the whole group.
